01Who we are

DriveIQ is a website and mobile app operated by DriveIQ Technologies Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 17106675). Registered office: 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy question, contact us through our contact form or support@driveiq.app.

This policy covers both driveiq.app and the DriveIQ mobile app for Android and iOS.

02What we collect

  • Account details: your name and email address when you create an account.
  • Precise location: used to show events, rail and airport alerts near you and to sort them by distance. Your location is used while you are using the app, to show what is near you, for alerts you have asked to receive, when you post a report, and when you ask the AI assistant about your area. We do not store your location history on our servers and we cannot see where you have been. You can turn location off in your device settings at any time, though some features will stop working.
  • App activity: the events, flights and stations you save, the alerts you set up, and which features you use, so the app can notify you correctly.
  • Messages you send to the AI assistant: the questions you type, and the answers we return.
  • Device and technical data: device type, operating system, app version, push notification token and diagnostics.
  • Reports you post: the type of report, its location and time, and your account ID. Reports are shown to other drivers on the map and can trigger alerts to them, and expire after a few hours.
  • Subscription status: whether you are on the free or premium plan, and your trial state. We never see or store your card details.
  • Contact and city requests: if you use the form on our website, your name, email, the reason and message you send, or the city and type of driving you tell us about.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, microphone recordings, call logs, messages or health data.

03How we use it

To provide live event, rail, tube and airport intelligence; to send the notifications and alerts you ask for; to answer your questions through the AI assistant; to manage your subscription and free trial; to fix crashes and improve the product; to show the reports you post to other drivers; to reply to messages you send us; to tell you when DriveIQ is coming to a city you asked about; and to contact you about your account. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

04Legal basis

We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the service and your subscription), on the basis of your consent (marketing emails, city updates, location, push notifications), and our legitimate interests (improving, supporting and securing the product, and replying to messages you send us), in line with UK GDPR.

05AI features

DriveIQ includes an AI assistant that answers questions about London events, transport and airports, and that writes the wording of some alerts. To do this we send your question, along with the relevant public transport and event data, to Anthropic (our AI provider) for processing. When you ask about what is near you, we also send your current location and area name so the answer fits where you are. We do not send your name or email, and we do not store a history of where you have been.

Anthropic processes the request on our behalf under a data processing agreement and does not use your input to develop or improve its own models. We keep a short record of AI usage (timestamp, plan, message volume) so we can manage cost and fair use. AI answers can occasionally be wrong or out of date, so please treat them as guidance rather than fact, especially for travel and safety decisions.

06Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us run DriveIQ, under appropriate data-processing agreements:

  • Google Firebase (Google Ireland Ltd): account sign-in and authentication, the app database that holds your saved events and alerts, and push notifications.
  • Anthropic: powers the AI assistant, as described above.
  • RevenueCat: manages subscription status. Payments themselves are handled by Apple or Google, who share only limited purchase information with us.
  • Brevo: manages our email lists, including city requests, and sends our emails and replies to messages from our website. Lists are opt-in and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • PostHog: product analytics, hosted in the EU. It tells us which features people use so we can improve them. We do not use it for advertising and we never sell the data.
  • AeroDataBox (accessed via RapidAPI): supplies live flight and airport arrival data. We request data by airport and time window, never per user, so no personal data is sent with these requests.
  • Rail and road data: live rail, tube and road status comes from Transport for London and National Highways open feeds, queried by area rather than per user.
  • Cloudflare: hosts and serves the website, provides cookie-free visit statistics, and passes website form messages to Brevo.
  • The people who build and maintain the app may access data where needed to fix problems, under written agreements with confidentiality and data protection terms.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

07Your rights and deleting your data

You can access, correct or delete your data, withdraw consent, or object to processing at any time. In the app you can delete your account from Menu → Settings, which removes your account, saved items and alert history. You can also ask through our contact form or support@driveiq.app and we will action the request within 30 days. See how to delete your account. You may also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).

08Retention and security

We keep account data while your account is open, and delete it within 30 days of you closing it, except where we must keep records for legal or accounting reasons. Diagnostics and AI usage logs are kept for up to 12 months. Website messages are kept for 12 months after the conversation ends. City requests are kept until you unsubscribe, or for 24 months after you asked if DriveIQ has not launched in that city by then. Data is encrypted in transit and access is limited to people who need it.

09Children

DriveIQ is built for working drivers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will remove it.

10Cookies

Our website does not set advertising or tracking cookies and does not track you across other websites. We measure visits with privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies. The mobile app does not use cookies or advertising identifiers.

11Changes

We'll update this policy as the product develops and note the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we'll tell you in the app or by email.
